A Study of Historical Urban Landscape Layering in Luoyang Based on Historical Map Translation

China has undergone a tremendous urbanization process over the past four decades, resulting in considerable conflict between desire to construct contemporary urban areas and safeguard old structures. In addition destroying physical space of ancient sites, development fragmented natural landscape severed its structural relationship with historical landscape. this study, we selected Luoyang as research object digitally translated laminated laminar Luoyang’s based on maps related documents. It is intended establish digital information database comprising data from different periods city through systematic translation historic combining following carriers: spatial patterns, roads streets, units, landmark buildings. While reading city, analysis tool, ArcGIS, was used identify trajectory evolution structure throughout history. paper, suggest establishment axis system integrate city’s landscape, thereby strengthening social perception such landscapes preserving their memory.
